Beaded Sew-In vs Traditional Sew-In: What’s the Difference?

Not sure which sew-in method is best for your hair? Let’s break it down.

A traditional sew-in starts with braided cornrows. The wefts are sewn directly onto those braids, which can be bulky, heavy, or cause tension if installed too tightly.

A beaded sew-in skips the braiding entirely. Instead, your stylist creates a foundation using small micro-links (beads), which are spaced out for breathability and sewn into place. The result? A lighter, flatter install with more movement and comfort.

If you’re dealing with breakage, want to keep access to your scalp, or simply want a modern update to the classic sew-in, this method is worth considering.
