The Curly Cut
Your Curls Deserve
Dallas's curly cut specialist — built around your curl pattern.
A curly cut isn't a standard haircut. In the right hands, it's a precision cut that works with your curl pattern — not against it — to create shape, remove bulk, and let your natural texture do exactly what it was meant to do. At Querisma Beauty Studio, every curly cut starts with a consultation, because no two curl patterns are the same.
Quia Querisma is a curly hair specialist based in Dallas, Texas, serving clients from North Dallas, Plano, Frisco, Allen, McKinney, and the surrounding DFW area. Her studio is located inside Ovation Salon Suites, across from Galleria Dallas — a private suite where every curly cut is dry, deliberate, and built specifically for your texture.
The service
What is a curly cut — and why does the method matter?
A curl cutting system is only as good as the stylist behind it — and the stylist's ability to recognize which system your hair actually needs. At Querisma Beauty Studio, Quia is trained across three curl cutting methods: RēZo, Forever Curls, and Cut it Kinky. Each was developed for different textures and curl patterns. Your cut draws from whichever approach serves your specific canvas.
Most curly hair clients have experienced the disappointment of a stylist with one technique applied to every head. That's not how curly hair works. Curls, waves, and tight coils respond differently — and a method that transforms a type 3 curl can spell disaster on a type 4 coil.
Every curly cut here starts dry, in your hair's natural state, so Quia can assess your true curl pattern before a single strand comes off. What follows is a cut built specifically for your texture — not adapted from a one-size-fits-all approach.
Good to know
"My clients don't all have the same curl pattern, so they don't all get the same cut. I pull from three different systems depending on what your hair needs."
What to expect
A curly cut, step by step
Every curly cut at Querisma Beauty Studio follows the same deliberate sequence — because understanding your curl pattern before picking up the shears is what separates a transformative cut from a disappointing one.
Consultation
We discuss your curl goals, lifestyle, how you wear your hair, and what's not working about your current shape and product choices. This informs every decision made during the cut — including which cutting method your texture calls for.
The dry cut
Your hair is cut dry, in its natural curl state. Cutting dry is the only way to accurately see how your curls fall, where bulk lives, and how the shape will behave in real life.
Cleanse & condition
A professional cleanse, spa mist service, and conditioning treatment tailored to your hair's specific moisture and protein needs — so your curls are in their best state before styling.
Curl set & education
Your curls are set using products and techniques selected for your texture. New clients receive a full walkthrough of the method and products so you can recreate the results at home. New clients also receive one full-sized styling product of their choice.
Why Querisma
What makes this curly cut different
-
01
Trained across three curl cutting systems
RēZo, Forever Curls, and Cut it Kinky each approach curly hair differently — and each excels on different textures. Being trained across all three means your cut is tailored to your actual curl pattern, not the method that happened to be on the course calendar.
-
02
Always cut dry
Wet hair stretches. Dry hair tells the truth. Cutting curls in their natural state is the only way to see how they actually behave — and the only way to guarantee the shape holds after you leave the chair.
-
03
Curl education included
Every new client appointment includes a step-by-step walkthrough of products and technique, as well as a PDF aftercare guide so you can replicate your results at home. You leave knowing your hair, not just loving it in the chair.
-
04
Seven years of textured hair focus
Curly and coily hair has been Quia's primary clientele since day one. That depth of experience — understanding shrinkage, porosity, density, and pattern — is what produces cuts that actually work.

Who this curly cut is designed for
Naturally curly or wavy
Type 2, 3, and 4 textures are all welcome. If you've been fighting your curl pattern — in Dallas, Plano, Frisco, or anywhere in the DFW area — and want a cut built around your actual texture, this is where you start.
Wash-and-go wearers
You wear your natural curls the majority of the time and want a cut that performs every wash day — not just when a stylist sets it. This service is built around your real life.
Frustrated with past cuts
You've had stylists cut your curls wet and watched the shape disappear when your hair dried. Or you've been told to just get a trim. This is a different experience entirely.

Common questions
Curly cut FAQ
Why do you cut curly hair dry?
Because wet hair lies. When curly hair is wet, it stretches and loses its natural shape — which means a stylist cutting wet hair is guessing at how the curl will behave once it dries. Cutting dry, in the curl's natural state, means what you see in the chair is what you get at home.
How often should I get a curly cut?
Every 3 to 4 months is typical for most curly hair clients — though some prefer every 6 months depending on their hair goals and how quickly their hair grows. We'll discuss a cadence that makes sense for your texture and lifestyle during your consultation.
How should I prep for my appointment?
For the Querismatic Experience and Full-Service appointments, arrive with your fully dry, styled wash and go — day 2 or 3 hair is ideal because it allows me to see the shape clearly. For the Express Cut, arrive with your curls fully styled as you would normally wear them. Avoid heavy product buildup before any appointment.
Can I get a curly cut if my hair is color-treated?
Yes. Color-treated curly hair is welcome at Querisma Beauty Studio. Quia has extensive experience working with color-treated natural and curly hair and will factor your color history into the consultation and product selection.
I've never had a curly cut before. Where do I start?
Book the Querismatic Curly Cut Experience. It's designed specifically for new clients — it includes everything needed to properly establish your curl profile, educate you on your texture, and set you up with a cut and routine that actually works.
